For a Longwood rotation, start with the way you want to live: a hotel for a brief visit, a furnished apartment for cooking and everyday routines, or a conventional lease for a longer move. These selections compare a Fenway residential tower, a Kenmore hotel and two Hyatus Boston stays by household size, cooking and workspace needs, and the route to your hospital.

Published by Hyatus. This guide includes our own stays alongside independent options. Selections are organized by traveler fit, not an independent ranking.

Direct Answer: Housing That Fits a Longwood Rotation

For a 2–12 week hospital rotation, choose your housing type before choosing a Boston neighborhood. A hotel inside Longwood can suit a few nights of credentialing or a caregiver who needs to return to the hospital at odd hours. A furnished apartment with a kitchen, laundry and workspace gives a multi-week stay a more workable daily rhythm. A conventional Fenway apartment lease makes sense when the commitment fits a longer move, including the effort of furnishing a home.

Then work backward from your entrance on Huntington Avenue, Longwood Avenue, Brookline Avenue or Francis Street. Getting to the right block at the start and end of a shift matters more than a general Boston address. Compare the walk, train or eligible shuttle with the cost and arrangements of driving every day.

What the Longwood Medical and Academic Area Is

Longwood is a concentrated medical and academic district southwest of downtown Boston, beside Fenway–Kenmore, Mission Hill, Audubon Circle and Brookline. Harvard Medical School, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Harvard School of Dental Medicine share the area with major hospitals. The Longwood Collective, founded as MASCO in 1972 and based at 375 Longwood Avenue, coordinates district services including transportation.

The Collective's 2018 fact sheet describes 213 acres, 22 institutions and about 112,000 daily commuters and visitors. Those historical figures convey the scale of activity, rather than a current headcount. For housing, the useful lesson is that Longwood contains many destinations, entrances and daily journeys.

Massachusetts General Hospital at 55 Fruit Street is outside this cluster. If your assignment names MGH, plan around that campus separately. For Longwood, use the hospital addresses below as starting points and obtain your actual staff or patient entrance from the institution.

  • Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center: 330 Brookline Avenue.
  • Brigham and Women's Hospital: 75 Francis Street.
  • Boston Children's Hospital: 300 Longwood Avenue.
  • Dana-Farber Cancer Institute: 44 Binney Street.

How Clinicians Reach Longwood: Green Line, Shuttles and IDs

The Green Line D stop is Longwood; the Green Line E stop is Longwood Medical Area. Dana-Farber's directions describe different walking approaches: from the D via Chapel Street to Longwood Avenue, and from the E west along Longwood Avenue past Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's. Compare the complete route with your work entrance, rather than treating the two stop names as interchangeable.

The district's other connections include the D branch at Fenway, the Orange Line at Ruggles, and commuter rail at Ruggles and Lansdowne. Kenmore is a useful Fenway Park node, but it is not the Longwood Medical Area stop, and E trains do not serve Kenmore. Game-day crowds can affect the Kenmore and Fenway approach. Check the MBTA Longwood Medical Area station page and live alerts during arrival week, plus the last service you would need after a late shift.

Longwood Collective shuttles require a valid member-institution ID for employees or students. M2 has its own rule: a Harvard ID or a ticket purchased in advance; a Harvard Library card does not qualify. Ask occupational health, graduate medical education or your staffing vendor whether your rotation appointment gives you an eligible ID.

The 2026 overview describes weekday service broadly from 5:05 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., except holidays, with no weekend service apart from limited M2 Saturday service. Individual schedules vary, and M2 has summer reductions. The route list includes Ruggles, JFK/UMass, Fenway, Renaissance Garage and Landmark. Check the actual route schedule for both ends of your shift; the overview is not a promise that every bus runs throughout that window. Eligible member employees can also ask about the Emergency Ride Home program.

Parking in the Longwood District as a Daily Decision

Make parking a separate line in your rotation budget. Mass General Brigham directs Brigham visitors and patients to the 80 Francis Street Garage. Boston Children's identifies its Patient and Family Garage at 31 Blackfan Street; validated patient and parent pricing is not a staff commuter rate. The Collective also operates the garage at 375 Longwood Avenue and points employees toward transportation alternatives.

Each operator publishes its own parking terms and rate card. The Collective page labels its card effective April 1, 2026; consult the linked pages for updates instead of budgeting from an old screenshot. Ask your employer which staff arrangement applies to you and compare the total for your workdays with transit. A garage near the hospital does not by itself settle access, validation or your daily cost.

A Rotation Checklist: Kitchen, Laundry, Workspace and Sleep

Picture your first morning after nights: something to cook, scrubs to wash, a place to put your laptop and a sleeping area you can darken. Those details can matter more over six weeks than a lobby you pass through twice a day. Ask about the actual setup, including whether the washer is inside the home, whether the work surface is a desk and how daytime rest fits the building's routine.

  • Confirm whether your employer ID unlocks a relevant Longwood Collective shuttle; M2 requires a Harvard ID or prepaid ticket.
  • Compare the E at Longwood Medical Area, the D at Longwood or Fenway, or a documented shuttle connection for which you qualify.
  • Budget hospital or district parking across the assignment instead of assuming a space will work out each shift.
  • Prioritize furnished housing for a temporary assignment unless its length justifies a residential lease and furnishing costs.
  • Discuss window coverings, daytime noise, quiet hours and laundry access for the specific home or room.

Comparison Table: Hotel, Fenway Lease and Furnished Apartment

These are questions for comparing an offer, not universal inclusions. Cooking and a dishwasher affect meal cleanup; laundry affects how you pack; a desk and Wi-Fi matter for calls. Sleep conditions, parking or transit, and the full length of the agreement deserve the same attention as the room itself.

Furnished Apartments Compared with Boston Residential Leases

A conventional apartment offers a home for a longer move, but the agreement can outlast a rotation. Before signing a 12-month lease for a six-week contract, account for furniture, utility setup and the remaining commitment. A furnished stay is a different inquiry: give the provider your complete dates and ask for the terms that apply to that particular home.

Massachusetts guidance says a landlord may collect the first month's rent, last month's rent, a security deposit of up to one month's rent, and lock and key costs at the start of a tenancy. That can make cash due up front quite different from the monthly rent alone. Ask for an itemized written agreement. The state's exception for vacation or recreational occupancy of 100 days or less is purpose-specific; a hospital work rotation should not be treated as a vacation simply because it is short.

On-Campus Hotel Pattern: Inn at Longwood Medical

The Inn at Longwood Medical puts the campus hotel pattern in focus. Its address is 342 Longwood Avenue, and its directions describe proximity to Boston Children's, Dana-Farber, Beth Israel Deaconess, Brigham and Women's, Harvard Medical School and Joslin. For a short credentialing trip, or a family member returning to an inpatient unit at unusual hours, staying on Longwood Avenue may be the deciding feature.

The hotel describes free Wi-Fi and the on-site Longwood Grille and Bar, along with hotel check-in and checkout arrangements. That supports a hotel-style visit; it does not establish the kitchen setup you might want for twelve weeks. Ask the hotel which room type and terms suit the length and daily routine of your visit.

1. Pierce Boston: A Fenway Residential High-Rise

Pierce Boston is a 30-story residential tower at 200 Brookline Avenue, marketed as apartments and condominiums. Its appeal for a longer Fenway move is the combination of a home kitchen and in-unit washer/dryers with shared places to unwind. The operator describes quartz kitchen counters, floor-to-ceiling windows and 9-foot ceilings, plus a rooftop pool, yoga studio, arcade, media room and 24-hour concierge.

For a household settling into Boston beyond one rotation, that mix gives everyday chores and downtime a place in the same building. Treat Pierce as a residential leasing conversation: its Fenway address and amenities are reasons to explore it, while the offered lease length determines whether it fits a temporary assignment.

Best for: Households planning a conventional Fenway lease who value in-unit laundry and building amenities.

Before you choose: Ask the leasing office whether a furnished or mid-term corporate option is offered, or only a conventional apartment lease.

2. Hotel Commonwealth: A Kenmore Square Hotel

Hotel Commonwealth at 500 Commonwealth Avenue suits travelers whose days already revolve around Kenmore Square and Fenway Park. Its direct access to Kenmore station is the defining feature here. The hotel also lists 24-hour fitness and business center access and Wi-Fi, useful when a short stay includes work between trips out.

For Longwood, map the onward journey from Kenmore to your entrance and back after your shift. This is a Kenmore hotel base rather than a room on Longwood Avenue. A nights-only Children's assignment deserves a particularly careful last-train check. For airport transportation, make a separate plan with the hotel rather than assuming a hotel shuttle.

Best for: Travelers whose days center on Kenmore Square and direct subway-station access.

Before you choose: Confirm current parking arrangements and whether the published 6-foot-6-inch vehicle-height limit works for your car.

3. Hyatus The Andi: A Two-Bedroom Furnished Stay

The Hyatus furnished stay at The Andi in Boston

The Andi gives two travelers a two-bedroom furnished Boston option to discuss with Hyatus. The listing identifies a kitchen, washer and dedicated workspace. For a rotation, that combination makes room for cooking after nights, washing scrubs and taking calls without using the bed as a work surface.

The two-bedroom layout is the clearest reason to compare The Andi with Verra's smaller footprint. It is a Boston furnished stay, so build your decision around the actual home and your shift route to Longwood. A Boston location alone does not establish how long it takes to reach the hospital.

Best for: Two travelers looking for two bedrooms, a kitchen, a washer and a dedicated workspace.

Before you choose: Confirm the exact unit, whether your rotation dates are permitted, and whether the washer is in-unit.

4. Hyatus at Verra: A Smaller Furnished Stay

Verra is the smaller Hyatus option for a solo clinician who expects to cook and join work calls. Its junior one-bedroom listing is recorded as zero bedrooms, with capacity for three guests, a kitchen and dedicated workspace. Think of it as a studio-style furnished stay when comparing privacy and sleeping arrangements with The Andi's two bedrooms.

The listing name, Downtown at Harvard, is not a Longwood campus address. Start with the compact layout and the daily routine you want, then ask Hyatus about the specific unit. A solo traveler may find that a more useful comparison than choosing by the number of guests the listing can accommodate.

Best for: A solo clinician seeking a smaller furnished home with a kitchen and dedicated workspace.

Before you choose: Confirm the exact unit, guest count and dates, and do not assume a hospital shuttle serves the building.

Who Should Book Which Pattern

For a brief credentialing trip or a caregiver focused on Children's, Dana-Farber or Brigham inpatient visits, start with the Longwood Avenue hotel pattern. For a longer residential move, explore Pierce Boston's lease terms. Hotel Commonwealth makes the most sense when Kenmore already belongs in your day. For a furnished Boston inquiry, compare The Andi when two bedrooms matter and Verra when a solo traveler's smaller home and cooking space are the priority.

The strongest choice is the one whose agreement, daily setup and route all fit the assignment. Avoid letting an attractive address substitute for a parking plan, signing a long lease simply because it is near Fenway, or choosing Kenmore for overnight hospital work without checking the trip home.

Confirm These Details with Hyatus Before You Request Dates

Send Hyatus your rotation dates, hospital entrance, shift pattern and everyone who will stay. Use the questions below to turn a promising listing into a specific inquiry. They require answers for the offered home; this guide does not establish available dates, a permitted stay length or building terms.

  • Which exact unit would the request cover, and does that building permit the full 2–12 week period you need?
  • If parking is listed, does it mean a reserved space, a waitlist, a separate fee or street parking? Request the written arrangement.
  • Where are the washer and dryer: in the unit or in the building? What access or quiet hours apply?
  • Is the dedicated workspace a true desk, and what Wi-Fi arrangement applies to that home?
  • Does the sleeping layout suit your group? Check The Andi's two bedrooms and five-person listing capacity against Verra's zero-bedroom, three-person listing capacity.
  • Which pet, registration and Boston mid-term building rules apply to your request?
  • If essential, ask about a dishwasher, dryer, dining area, fitness center, elevator, air conditioning or rooftop access for the actual unit; do not infer access from a building name.
  • Hyatus does not control Longwood Collective eligibility, MBTA alerts or hospital garage validation. Confirm those with the relevant operator or employer.
  • Plan the actual route to 75 Francis Street or 300 Longwood Avenue for your shift hours; neither listing supplies an assumed travel time.
